Frequently Asked Questions

What do you actually do as a photographer?

I freeze time. Just kidding (kind of). I capture your real-life moments—those messy, giggly, lovey, chaotic, beautiful seconds—and turn them into photos you’ll want to frame, post, and maybe even cry over. I specialize in lifestyle family photography, plus maternity, couples, and the occasional adorable kiddo session.

How do I book you?

Feel free to slide into my DMs. You can reach out via email at photosbypaj@gmail.com. The easiest way is to book directly through my booking link.

How long does a session take?

Plan for around 30–60 minutes. Long enough to get the good stuff, short enough to keep everyone happy (including grumpy toddlers)

How many photos do we get?

Depends on the collection you chose at booking, but a full gallery includes at least 50 images. You will get to see all of them & choose your favorites. I don’t hold back on the good ones, promise.

Do you do mini sessions?

Yup! I offer minis a few times a year (think: fall leaves, spring blooms, Christmas). They book fast, so follow me on Instagram or Facebook to get first dibs.

What if I’m super awkward in front of the camera?

Same. But good news: it’s my job to make you forget the camera’s even there. I’ll guide you, give you fun little prompts, and capture you just being you. Zero stiff poses, no “say cheese,” and definitely no modeling experience required.

Can I bring my dog?

Uh, yes please. Dogs are 1000% welcome. Just give me a heads up so I can pack extra treats and squeaky noises.

Can we do something fun or non-traditional for our session?

Heck. Yes. Wanna shoot in an ice cream shop? Have a picnic? Wear costumes? Dance barefoot? Let’s do it. The more you it feels, the better the photos will be.

Can I send you my Pinterest inspo board?

Go for it! I love seeing what you’re drawn to. Just know I don’t replicate shots—I’ll use your inspo to vibe-check the session, then do my thing to make it uniquely you.

Can I bring props?

Sure! Blankets, flower crowns, bikes, bubbles—props are fun as long as they don’t distract from you. And please, no confetti unless you’re cleaning it up 😅

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes! The perfect gift for parents, couples, or that friend who never gets around to booking their own session.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yep, a small deposit secures your session date. It's part of the booking process and goes toward your final total. It’s my way of locking you in and getting excited for our shoot!

Where are you based? And will you travel?

I’m based in Clarksville, TN but always down for a mini road trip. If you’ve got a cute location in mind, let’s chat. I travel within Clarksville for free and farther for a small fee - maybe snacks?

What should we wear? We have no idea.

Totally normal. I’ve got a style guide to help you out, and I’m always happy to give input. Think coordinated, not matching. Soft tones, comfy clothes, and outfits you feel good in.

When will we get our photos?

Editing takes a little time, but I’ll have your gallery ready within 15-30 days. I’ll send a link to your email!

What if the weather is a total mess?

No worries—we’ll reschedule. I keep backup dates just in case Mother Nature has other plans. No extra fees, no drama.

What if my kids go full gremlin mode during the shoot?

Totally normal. Seriously. I’ve seen it all—meltdowns, snack strikes, wild sprints mid-photo. I roll with it, and some of those “chaos” moments end up being the best shots. We keep things relaxed, playful, and zero pressure.

Do you Photoshop us? Like… a lot?

I keep things natural. I’ll clean up little distractions (a rogue zit, that one random hair, etc.) but I won’t turn you into a different person.

What about my cat?

"Yes" is a complete sentence.

What if we’re running late?

Hey, life happens. Just let me know as soon as you can. I try to be flexible, but keep in mind that lighting waits for no one (especially golden hour!).

Do you shoot indoors or outdoors?

Both! I love chasing golden hour light outdoors, but cozy in-home sessions? Chef’s kiss. Let’s chat about what fits your fam best. I do shoot backdrop style (but let me know before you book as I will have to coordinate with a third party studio)

How far in advance should we book?

The sooner the better, especially during busy seasons like fall. I typically book out 1–2 months in advance, but it never hurts to ask!

Will you post our photos online?

I love sharing the magic, but I always ask before I post. If you prefer to keep things private, just let me know—zero pressure.

Do you shoot weddings?

Not my main gig, but I do love small, intimate weddings or elopements. Let’s chat if you’ve got something unique in mind.
